Books form long-lasting connections whether you’re snuggling up with your child before bedtime, your student’s having a book read to them during circle time, or you or your child have joined a reading group. Hudson Montessori School joins with Follett for a second year to host our annual book fair. This event promotes a warm, community-friendly feeling that brings us together like family.
The book fair was on hiatus last year, but we’ve made adjustments for the pandemic with limited timed entry and have been able to maintain the fun that makes the event special while keeping it safe and accessible to our school community. Parents and students can sign up for one of the staggered time slots to shop early mornings, during noon and 3 p.m. dismissals, and evenings. Masks are required for in-person shopping. Parent volunteers work shifts for the in-person section of the fair to control crowding, stock the shelves, and process book sales. This year’s fair also includes an online shopping experience open to our families!
Each book sold has its benefits. Book fairs help encourage children to read! We want to create life-long learners; fostering a love of reading is integral for that dream to become a reality. Proceeds from book sales go to purchase books to replenish our school’s library and fulfills book needs or teacher book requests for the school year. Teachers make book wishlists, and parents can buy those books as a direct donation to the classroom or the proceeds can go toward buying all the remaining books on teacher’s wishlists.
Big thanks to the 50 parents who have and are volunteering. Our parents make this event a reality through donating their time and supporting our book fair. resources provided by your unwavering support. We look forward to seeing all of you who can shop in-person over the next week!
