Community Outreach

“So in the child, besides the vital impulse to create himself, and to become perfect, there must yet be another purpose, a duty to fulfill in harmony, something he has to do in the service of a united whole.” – Dr. Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, pg. 57

Maria Montessori, along with many other experts, considered empathy to be one of the greater measures of intelligence.  She also valued service, charity and generosity.

At Hudson Montessori School, an important facet of our curriculum is to infuse into our children a sense of support of community, locally as well as internationally. We teach our children to be grateful for what they have and to be mindful of others who do not. It is the Montessori way.
