Hudson Montessori School nurtures its children to be compassionate global citizens who view injustice through a world-changer's lens. Most recently, the school donated $1,000 to purchase a safe water station for children in dire need of essential resources through the Save the Children Foundation. This donation directly resulted from the students’ wholehearted participation in the Trade and Trade Routes Social Studies Fair this May.
The school challenged the students to visit all 14 museum gallery rooms of its Social Studies Fair for its students and families to understand more about the world around them. For every student who completed this challenge, the school would pledge a donation on behalf of each child, inspiring children to be the change and make a difference in their world. All 360 children rose to the challenge in some way, according to their age level, ranging from 2 to 12.
Save the Children Foundation & Safe Water
Save the Children is a leading humanitarian organization working closely with the United Nations to end child labor, exploitation, starvation, and poverty worldwide.
The water station provides clean drinking water, accessible hand-washing stations, and sanitary latrines. Offering safe water and hygienic restrooms improves children's health, hygiene, and school attendance and positively impacts their families and the entire community.
Community Service Is a Montessori Tenet
Every year, the school community demonstrates its unwavering commitment to helping the community in Jersey City and globally. This recent donation to the Save the Children Foundation is one of many current partnerships in the last year that have allowed our students and school to make an impact for good.
Our ability to give back is a testament to the generosity of our students, families, and staff. Hand in hand with parents, our school community instills the values of giving, community service, and volunteerism in each classroom.
Hudson Montessori School takes great pride in its steadfast support of our neighbors through various organizations, such as the St. Matthews Food Pantry in downtown Jersey City, Welcome Home Jersey City, and Women Rising. The school has also raised funds and delivered aid packages to address global crises in Ukraine and Ecuador.
We are excited to share all the remarkable things happening at Hudson Montessori School. To learn more about our interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach to education, the Montessori philosophy and methodology, or how the school fosters the love of learning for its students, the school welcomes parents to our open houses.
