76 spelling bee champions, currently in grades 3-8, represented their respective schools from throughout Hudson County at the Annual Hudson County Spelling Bee on Saturday.

This weekend's competition was the 66th Annual Hudson County Spelling Bee. It was started in 1959 by a community of dedicated teachers, and grew until the Jersey Journal (which closed two weeks ago) began sponsoring and organizing the event.

The Hoboken Girl: Hudson Montessori School Gifts 250 Tree Saplings to Fire-Damaged Forests in Nevada
As a result of Hudson Montessori School’s 13th Annual Social Studies Fair, a grove of 250 saplings will be planted to help fire damaged forests in Nevada, per NJ.com. Wildfires destroyed more than 1.5 million acres of the Sierra Nevada National Forest in 2021. The school is donating the saplings though A Living Tribute which partners with American Forests and the National Forest Foundation.

Although designed to enrich students’ technical skills, the Maker Faire at the Hudson Montessori School went beyond science or engineering, even though many of the projects the students created incorporated both.
