Parent Education Night

What’s Your Parenting Style – Date : October 4,2016


Mary Wills Funari a PCI Certified Parent Coach through the Parenting Coaching Institute and an approved Instructor of “The Art of Positive Parenting” curriculum spoke about parenting styles. She provided tips to support mothers and fathers in gaining the self-awareness , self-compassion and self-confidence needed to reach their parenting goal and create strong, loving family relationships with their spouses or partners , and their children.




Ongoing Parent Education – Date: September 2015 – February 2016


Throughout the academic year, the school hosted numerous Parent Education events focusing on a particular area of the curriculum each time. These evening events took place monthly to provide insight and a better understanding of the beautifully designed Montessori materials and methods.

During the course of the year parents are invited into the classroom where teachers provide them with an insight into the Montessori Philosophy, and lessons in Language,Math, Sensorial, Cultural and Practical Life. This allows parents to see first hand the amazing method and procedure of the Montessori Classroom.




Good at Doing Things – Date: Monday, November 17, 2014


Dr. Steven Hughes, neuropsychologist and professor at the University of Minnesota and former Montessori student, spoke about “what are the features of an environment that recognize, respect, and fuel the inner light of a child?… Dr. Montessori’s genius was her understanding that human development requires different experiences at different stages of development.”




Understanding Your Parenting Style -Date: Monday, October 27, 2014


Ms. Divya Dodhia, LCSW, discussed what parents can do to support their children’s social, emotional and cognitive development at home which complements what the child is learning at school. This free event was open to all Hudson Montessori parents.




Assertive Discipline – Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2013


Ms. Amy Kelton offered insights into how best to assist our children in gaining the ability to self-regulate – one of the best predictors of later success in life. She discussed the development of self-control and systems for training self-control.
