Below is the list of the highly qualified and dedicated teachers of Hudson Montessori who have several years of Montessori and traditional teaching experience.

Admin Staff

Founder



Ms. Jolly has her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood. She has taught in Jersey City schools for over fifteen years and is eligible to teach kindergarten through eighth grade in New Jersey. Ms. Jolly holds an MBA in Finance and a Master’s in Accounting.




Director


Ms. Gina joined Hudson Montessori in 2015 after heading three Montessori schools in Delaware, Ohio and New York over the past twenty years. She has a Master of Instruction, Curriculum Design for Young Children, and earned her Bachelor’s in Education. She has forty years of experience working in schools. Ms. Gina believes in nurturing strong school communities and will be instrumental in guiding our school’s growth in coming years.




Education Director


Ms. Susan has a Master of Education and Montessori certification from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) for Early Childhood and Elementary. Ms. Susan holds the New Jersey alternate route certification for K-6. She has over 42 years of experience in teaching 2½ to 10 year olds in Montessori schools. She completed a course, the Texas Primary Reading Inventory (TPRI), for reading screening. Ms. Susan is in her ninth year with the school.




Admissions Director


Ms. Maki has been with Hudson Montessori School since the school started in 2009. She worked as an Assistant Teacher in the Toddler and Primary programs before moving to the office in 2011 to manage the daily operations of our school. She has been our Admissions Director for the past five years. Ms. Maki holds a BA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.




School Office


Ms. Joanna has a Bachelor's degree in Business and Technology of Fashion from NYC College of Technology. She has worked in the education field for 8 years and has a background in office management in a school environment. Ms. Joanna has two years of experience as a case manager at a HomeBase programassisting New Yorkers to achieve housing stability. Ms. Joanna is currently pursuing her Master’s in School Counseling at St. John’s University. This is her first year at Hudson Montessori School.





Toddler Program

Lead Teachers


Ms. Fumi has been with Hudson Montessori School since the school started in 2009. She has her Montessori certification for Infant to Toddler from the American Montessori Society (AMS). Ms. Fumi is our lead teacher in the Toddler classroom and has been the head of the Toddler program for the last nine years. Ms. Fumi holds degrees in English Linguistics and Japanese as a Second Language. She taught Japanese in Germany for five years. Ms. Catherine has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Elizabeth. She has five years experience as a teaching assistant. She has worked with toddler to school age children. In addition, she will be attending NYU in the spring to obtain her Masters of Social Work. Ms. Catherine has experience working in a Montessori school, and will be pursuing her Montessori certification in the coming months. Ms Catherine has experience teaching art to toddlers and does abstract art during her free time. She is excited to be working at Hudson Montessori School and is training to be a co-teacher with the guidance of Ms. Fumi, the head of the Toddler Program.




Assistant Teachers


Ms. Paola is a graduate from New Jersey City University, earning her Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Anthropology. She has worked with children with speech disabilities and in a physical therapy environment helping children to strengthen and restore their physical strength. Ms. Paola has been working with children for over 10 years. This will be her second year working for Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Erika spent the summer working with us in our Toddler Summer Camp, connecting with our youngest campers. For the last three years, Ms. Erika has devoted herself to raising her son. She is currently completing her General Educational Development testing (GED).





Bridge Primary Program

Lead Teacher


Ms. Cheyla is a graduate of New Jersey City University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She has over seven years of teaching experience working with young children ranging from the age of 2 months to 6 years. Ms. Cheyla is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for teaching creatively through arts and technology. She is in the process of completing her Montessori certification in early childhood (AMS) from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education, having finished all of the coursework and internship. This is her sixth year at Hudson Montessori School. ​​​​​​ Ms. Ana has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Jersey City University. She has worked with children ranging from toddler to Kindergarten for over four years. She has experience as both an assistant and lead teacher in a classroom. Her ultimate goal is to continue her studies and obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work to further aid children and families. Ms. Ana is working towards her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Westside Montessori School. This will be her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.




Assistant Teachers


Ms. Rashida has her certification in Early Childhood from Treehouse Institute in India. She has several years of experience working with young children as a Pre-K teacher. Ms. Rashida has also completed training in phonics from a UK based institute. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Maya earned a Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University and achieved her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in Social Work and Political Science. She is completing her certification in Behavioral Cognitive Therapy. Ms. Maya is a proponent of art therapy which she has successfully used with children. She has worked in a public school in New York City and a community school in Jersey City. This is her first year at the Hudson Montessori School.





Primary/Kindergarten Programs

Lead Teachers


Ms. Caridad graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in English Literature and minors in Italian Literature and Human Resources Management. She studied abroad in Italy for a year. She is completing her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE). Her passion for the field of education brought her to Hudson Montessori School, where she will be starting her eighth year. Ms. Eleena holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, as well as her Montessori Certification (AMS) in Early Childhood. She completed her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. Ms. Eleena has more than five years of teaching experience. Her love for Montessori lies in the philosophy of grace and courtesy and she brings that love to the students and faculty of Hudson Montessori School. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Mareme has a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood from Saint Peter’s University. She worked for a private school in Jersey City for two years as an Assistant Teacher in a preschool program. Ms. Mareme is bilingual, speaking French and English fluently. Ms. Mareme has obtained her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from the Montessori Center for Teacher Development (MCTD). This is her fifth year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Nancy holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and is a few credits short of her Master’s in Early Childhood Education. She received her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE) and has been teaching in Montessori schools for the past twelve years. She has been a field consultant for West Side Montessori School for the past four years and has been a Master Teacher to interns from Princeton Center for Teacher Education and West Side Montessori School for the past five years. Additionally, she is a certified Yoga teacher. She has been with us for the last ten years. Ms. Nivedita holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Mumbai, India. She has received her Montessori Certification (AMS) from West Side Montessori in New York. Ms. Nivedita has worked in our Montessori Primary program for nine years. She is passionate about working with the children in her classroom. ​Ms. Samira holds a Bachelor’s degree in English. She is in the process of completing her Montessori certification in early childhood (AMS) from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education, having finished all of the coursework and internship. She has worked with children from preschool through middle school for eight years as a lead teacher. Samira believes in the importance of being actively engaged with the children in both large and small groups. This is her seventh year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Yuliya has her Bachelor’s degree from Moscow State Linguistic University in Russia. She holds an Montessori certification (AMI) in Early Childhood from The Montessori Training Center of Saint Louis, Missouri. Ms. Yuliya previously worked as a Montessori teacher in schools in Brooklyn, New York and Warsaw, Poland. She also has worked in the corporate sector in Moscow. She is fluent in English and Russian, and conversational in Polish. Ms. Yuliya has ten years of teaching experience. She has been with us for eight years. Ms. Sadaf holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh and, as part of her undergraduate study, completed one semester at the National University of Singapore. She received her Montessori (AMS) certification in Early Childhood from Princeton Center of Teachers Education (PCTE). Ms. Sadaf has been working in Montessori environments with toddler and early childhood children for six years. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.




Assistant Teachers


Ms. Elaine graduated CumLaude from Hudson County Community College and holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She has over twelve years of experience working with infants through elementary children. This included working as an assistant teacher in an Abbott program with 3 and 4 year old children for four years. Ms. Elaine enjoys taking part in a child’s growth and development, and is intrigued by how children think, react and learn. This is Ms. Elaine’s fourth year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Elle has studied at New Jersey City University for four years. She has four years of teaching experience at a beauty academy in New Jersey and in Florida. Ms. Elle is passionate about the arts and creative influences and believes that developing such things in the youth helps positively shape identity and personality. She is looking forward to her third year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Katrina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology specializing in Family, Health and Youth Services. She has her Associate’s degree in Elementary and Secondary Education. Ms. Katrina has worked in preschool and daycare settings as a Family Worker and a Teacher Assistant. She has thirteen years of experience working at Hudson County Community College as a Disability Support Worker. She has obtained training from A. Harry Moore School providing care for children ages three to five with various disabilities. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori. Ms. Maricel has her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Kean University and is pursuing a Masters degree in Early Childhood. She is multi-lingual in English, Spanish and Tagalog. She has six years of experience working with young children in different settings. Additionally, she volunteered for Jumpstart, a program that serves preschool students in under-resourced communities to prepare them for Kindergarten. She is in her fourth year with us. Ms. Neha has her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi and is currently pursuing her Montessori Teacher certification. She has worked as an assistant teacher in a Pre-K 3 classroom. The curiosity of children drives her passion for working in a school environment. Ms Neha is working towards her Montessori certification (AMS) in Early Childhood from Westside Montessori School. She is thrilled to continue her third year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Akilah is from New York City where she received her Associate’s degree in Applied Science. Her recent experience has been as classroom assistant at a primary school in Jersey City. Her prior experience includes working with students as a coach to complete their college application process. Ms. Akilah has also worked in summer day camps and an afterschool program in Brooklyn, New York. This is Ms. Akilah’s first year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Maria earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeast Asian College, Philippines. She has been a Sunday School teacher since 2012 where she taught students ages 3 through10. She is currently pursuing her Montessori certification (MACTE) for Primary (age 3 through 6) from the Prepared Montessorian. This is Ms. Maria’s first year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Samantha graduated from University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a Certificate in Educational Studies. She has been working in education for six years in Hawaii and in New Jersey. Samantha has lead teacher experience working with kindergarteners through the sixth grade. She also has two years of experience working with students with learning disabilities and special needs. Samantha is excited to start her first year at Hudson Montessori School and intends to pursue the American Montessori Society (AMS) certification in Early Childhood. Ms. Kat received her Master’s Degree in Education from Public Education Association Teacher College in Warsaw, Poland. She worked at the Educational Psychology Guidance Center in her hometown in Poland. Ms. Kat assisted in early childhood development and early intervention for children from birth to age 7. She helped children and adolescents with disabilities and gave guidance to parents. When she moved to New York, she worked in English as a Second Language School as an international student advisor for several years. In 2017, Ms. Kat became a mother and developed a strong passion for the Montessori philosophy, which she said she sees foster independent learning and creates a sense of belonging for children. Currently, she is pursuing her Montessori certification from the West Side Montessori Teacher Education program in New York. She is fluent in Polish and English and is conversational in Russian and Slovakian. This is her first year at Hudson Montessori School.





Lower Elementary Program

Lead Teachers


Ms. Adinah graduated cum laude from Stony Brook University with a BA in Political Science and Public Policy. She was the social media director during a political campaign as an intern with a Philippine-American organization. Ms. Adinah is also a singer who has taught voice lessons to children in New York City. She received her Montessori certification (AMS) in Lower Elementary from Princeton Center for Teachers Education (PCTE) and is a National STEM certified teacher. Ms. Adinah completed a course in Leaders of Learning from Harvard University this summer. This is her seventh year at Hudson Montessori. Ms. Dayelin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education. She has her Lower Elementary Montessori Credential from WSMS – TEP, New York. Ms. Dayelin has more than 15 years of experience working with children of various ages and in countries ranging from Canada, Cuba, The Bahamas, Turkey, and the United States. She has been in the Montessori classroom for the past four years. Ms. Dayelin is eager to meet each child where they are and nurture their academic and social growth. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Gina A. has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She is in the process of completing her Montessori certification in Lower Elementary (AMS) from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education, having finished all of the coursework and internship. Ms. Gina has been a Montessori Lower Elementary lead teacher for the past seven years. She also worked for three years in an Upper Elementary program. Ms. Gina began her primary education as a Montessori student herself and is excited to be a co-teacher in one of our Lower Elementary classrooms for the fifth year. Ms. Shannon earned her Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education through a scholarship to Hudson County Community College. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at New Jersey City University, double-majoring in Early Childhood Education and Women’s and Gender Studies. She is in the process of completing her Montessori certification in Lower Elementary (AMS) from the Princeton Center for Teacher Education, having finished all of the coursework and internship. She is also a National STEM certified teacher. This is her eighth year in our Lower Elementary Program.

Ms. Susan is in her tenth year with the school. ​Ms. Vidya holds a Masters in Modern Language and Literature (English) from India and worked as a copy editor for four years. During this period, she worked on scientific, technical and medical journals published by Elsevier in both the US and UK. Ms. Vidya was drawn to the Montessori method of education when her son started his education at a Montessori school in India. Convinced that this method of education makes a positive and lasting change in younger minds, she joined Princeton Center for Teacher Training. She has her Montessori certification (AMS) in Lower Elementary. This is her fifth year at Hudson Montessori School.




Assistant Teachers


Ms. Betsy graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors in both Latin American and Latino Studies and Justice and Families. Ms Betsy has worked with young children for thirteen years. In addition to her BA, Ms. Betsy also obtained her Post BA certificate in Child Advocacy and Policy. This is her fourth year at Hudson Montessori School.





Upper Elementary Program

Lead Teachers


Ms. Grace K. received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Seton Hall University. She has been part of the Montessori community for fifteen years, first as a parent, and then teaching, assisting, and consulting with Montessori schools for thirteen years. Ms. Grace earned her Lower Elementary Montessori certification (AMS) from Princeton Center for Teacher Education (PCTE), is completing her Upper Elementary training at Westside Montessori Teacher Education, and is a National STEM certified teacher. Her passion is creating successful academic experiences for her students. She is returning for her fifth year at Hudson Montessori in our Upper Elementary Program. Ms. Stacey graduated from American University with a BA in Art History and a minor in Fine Arts. She has been teaching for more than sixteen years. Her teaching experience has been in both public and private school settings where she has worked with various ages in traditional education as well as in Montessori. Ms. Stacey has Montessori certifications from Princeton Center for Teacher Education and Delaware Institute for Montessori Education for Lower and Upper Elementary. She is a Field Consultant for the PCTE training program and holds the New Jersey Alternate Route Certification K-6. She has been trained in the Model United Nations Program for children. This is her ninth year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Emma earned a Bachelor’s degree. in Sociology and History from the University of Tampa in 2014. She was halfway through law school when she switched gears to pursue her dream of being a teacher. She moved to New York City in early 2018 where she completed a two-year professional fellowship with the NYC Teaching Fellows while teaching full-time in the Bronx. She completed a Master’s of Science in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) from City College of New York with a focus on multilingual education and child development. Emma has taught across grade levels and content areas from early education to high school seniors and beyond. We welcome Ms. Emma to her first year at Hudson Montessori School as a teacher in our Upper Elementary Program.





STEAM

Lead Teachers


Mr. Chris has his Bachelor’s degree in Financial Services & Entrepreneurship from Johnson & Wales University. He began teaching business & technology along with financial literacy seven years ago at an alternative high school for women in Jersey City. He then transitioned to middle school technology at a local charter school in Jersey City. This is his third year working with the STEAM team at Hudson Montessori. Outside of teaching, he does community service projects to fund youth programs as a member & past president of the Kiwanis Club of Jersey City. Dr. Grace S. is a certified K-8 education teacher who was employed by the Jersey City District Public Schools for eight years. Prior to joining Hudson Montessori, she was an Educational Technology, Math and Science teacher for middle school students. She holds a Master’s degree in Supervision and Administration in Education, a National STEM certified teacher, and is a recent doctoral graduate from Saint Peter’s University. Her dissertation focused on STEM integration and implementation. Additionally, she was a Lego Robotics coach for many years and competed along with her students in statewide competitions. This is her ninth year working with our school implementing the STEAM curriculum. Ms. Grace has also been working these past summers as a teacher and camp coordinator in our Summer Maker’s Camp. Ms Michelle V. continues in her role as STEAM coordinator for Hudson Montessori School. She has a Masters Degree in Microbiology and Certificate for Primary Montessori Teaching. She is a National STEM certified Educator and a Certified National Geographic Certified Educator. She has also been trained in the Model United Nations Program, Computer Programming and Applications and Level I Credential for Montessori Applied to Children at Risk for Learning Differences (MACAR). Ms Michelle worked at the National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India, Sanofi Aventis Pharmaceuticals, and was a researcher at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Ms. Michelle begins her eleventh year with Hudson Montessori.





Special Programs

Art


Ms. Sarah graduated from the Lebanese University in Beirut with a B.A. and an M.A. in Archaeology and Art History. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Anthropology at the Graduate Center, the City University of New York. She has organized several archaeology workshops for children, field trips, as well as archaeology field schools. She is passionate about sharing our diverse cultural heritage with children she teaches in art. This is her second year at Hudson Montessori School.




Music


Ms. Emma is originally from Sweden. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in Music from Lulea University in Sweden and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Sibelius Academy in Finland. Ms. Emma has been teaching at the Piano School of New York for seven years and is also working as a jazz singer around the city. This is her third year at Hudson Montessori School.




Tennis (ages 6 and up)


Mr. Jim is a certified PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Instructor, ICI Certified Coach, and USTA rated 4.5/5.0 player, who has been involved in the tennis world for over 20 years. Educated in a variety of teaching methods both modern and traditional, Mr. Jim brings the experience to provide a singular teaching style that helps students learn and improve as quickly as possible. Mr. Jim has the knowledge and experience to create a lifelong love for tennis in our children.




Physical Education


Mr. Jim, who has an Etcheberry Certification for strength conditioning and movement, and who has been a USPTR (Professional Tennis Registry) instructor since 2003, will be holding PE classes for our Bridge Primary and Primary children. His years of experience, including five as an elementary school teacher, will help our children stay healthy and fit, especially during the winter months when outdoor activities are limited.





School Nurse

Nurse Lauren


Nurse Lauren is a graduate from Christ Hospital School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New Jersey City University. She has provided skilled nursing care for pediatric patients in the community and for children with special needs in the school setting. Nurse Lauren is passionate about nursing and working with children. This is Nurse Lauren’s second year at Hudson Montessori School.

After Care Staff


Ms. Danuta works in the After Care Program at Hudson Montessori. She is bi-lingual in English and Polish and has been working with young children for the last nine years. This is Ms. Danuta’s ninth year at Hudson Montessori School. Ms. Elaine (see bio above)
