Hudson Montessori School's Summer Camp provides a rich and engaging summer experience for toddlers to elementary-aged students. Each session blends fun, learning, and play in a nurturing and stimulating Montessori environment.
Each of our three camps is tailored to different age groups and features engaging themes like ocean discovery and the earth's elements. Water play is a highlight for all age groups, with elementary campers enjoying daily swimming sessions and younger campers having fun with sprinklers.
Our program offers flexible scheduling options for different needs, including half-day, full-day, and extended-day programs for toddlers and primary campers. Elementary campers benefit from a full day of diverse and enriching activities.
Toddler and Bridge Camp (2s and young 3s)
Our Toddler & Bridge camp, designed for children aged 2 and young 3s, features three exciting themes: Under the Sea, My Amazing Body, and Zoom, Zoom, Away We Go! These themes introduce children to aspects of our world through fun and engaging activities. Campers will better understand the ocean, transportation, and human anatomy.
Teachers engage children through hands-on activities, combining fun with skill-building in math, language, sensory, and practical life areas. Toddlers enjoy daily outdoor play, including games, sports activities, gardening, and water sprinkler time.
Primary Camp (3s to rising kindergarteners)
Primary campers, aged 3 to rising kindergarteners, will spend the summer exploring fascinating animal groups. The camp is divided into three sessions, each focusing on a different group: dinosaurs, sharks, and birds.
Campers will learn about these animals' life cycles, habitats, and unique characteristics through science, art, sensory play, stories, and movement activities. Each session includes crafts, games, walking trips to Van Vorst Playground, and water sprinkler fun.
Elementary Camp (rising 1st through 5th graders)
The Elementary Maker's Camp is for rising 1st through 5th graders and is centered around the Summer Olympics. Campers will explore the intersection of physics and Olympic sports and enhance their understanding of scientific concepts through real-world examples.
The first session covers forces and motion, explaining why soccer players need cleats, why basketballs bounce, and more. The second session delves into matter, light, and sound, exploring how light travels from the Olympic torch, the impact of uniform colors on performance, and how sound travels in a stadium. The final session focuses on energy, teaching campers about athlete training, energy conservation, and how clean energy is used in Olympic stadiums. Weather permitting, students enjoy swimming every morning, adding a refreshing and active start to their day.
Throughout each session, we will engage and expand each camper's critical thinking skills through hands-on projects, group lessons, and field trips to places like the Liberty Science Center, the Newark Museum, Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, and more.
