Hudson Montessori School’s Immersive Learning Strategy: Summer Camp and Year-round

Our school’s mantra is to foster each student's lifelong love of learning. An exciting way we kindle that for knowledge is by showing children that learning is fun! Immersive, experiential lessons are woven into every level of the curriculum. Whether in class or one of our special programs like summer camp, these real-world learning activities create lasting memories that inspire children to want to discover and learn more naturally.

This week, we challenged our Summer Makers Camp students to create bird nest landing pads. Our young engineers constructed several prototypes of nests made from various materials that would be soft yet supportive enough to catch a falling egg without it cracking. Campers gathered their inspiration from engineers who designed space capsule landing pads modeled after bird nests found in nature.

We offer unique opportunities for students at each level to excel academically. At the same time, students learn to be proficient problem solvers and accomplished presenters, and they work in a collaborative environment with others with varying degrees of skill. For example, our Upper Elementary students fill leadership roles in our school’s STEAM program and serve as delegates representing countries in the Montessori Model United Nations and collect valuable science data at the Hudson River for the N.Y. Department of Environmental Conservation.

Hudson Montessori School uses an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach throughout the entire year, including summer camp. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our administrative office or enroll now.
