Upper Elementary Students Orchestrate School’s Virtual Holiday Cheer Event

Kudos to the Upper Elementary Comet Class for developing a virtual Holiday Cheer singalong. The event was presented to every class of children age 3 and up during the last week of school before winter break.

Working with Ms. Emma, the music teacher, and the STEAM program teachers, the Comet students used a bit of technology magic by combining Zoom, Google Earth, and YouTube.

Each student contributed to the musical singalong, making visual stops around the world with the aid of Google Earth and singalong lyrics courtesy of YouTube.

Tying in their Model Montessori United Nations course work, the singalong songs tracked with countries the Comet class will be representing at the U.N. assembly early next year. The singalong included songs Ms. Emma has been teaching them at their weekly music classes: “Eight Days of Hanukkah,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Mele Kalikimaka,” 'Kwanzaa,'' and “Jingle Bell Rock,” among others.
