Through this Teacher Insight series, we are proud to highlight the talented individuals whose contributions make Hudson Montessori a place where children truly thrive. Meet Ms. Lu, our dedicated Spanish teacher, who teaches all our students, from Toddlers to Middle Schoolers! She starts with the basics, using vocabulary and songs and chants to teach pronunciation in an immersion-style environment. By the time the student reaches Upper Elementary and Middle School, they can converse, read, and write in Spanish.
Ms. Lu loves observing the learning process as students acquire a new language. She is excited when she sees children translate, compare, and connect their native language with Spanish, fostering both practical communication skills and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity. Her classroom encourages students to take risks when learning a new language, helping them feel more confident in expressing themselves.
Ms. Lu’s Experience & Qualifications
Ms. Lu has been the Spanish teacher at Hudson Montessori for 10 years, since 2015. Ms. Lu brings a strong academic and professional background to her role, earning a bachelor’s degree in translation and completing additional coursework in linguistics, grammar, and Spanish literature in Lima, Peru. She has extensive teaching experience, including positions at Mater Purissima School in Peru, Language Wizards International, The Learning Center for Exceptional Children, and Fusion Academy.
Why Does She Choose Hudson Montessori School as a Teacher?
Ms. Lu appreciates Hudson Montessori’s strong academic programs, passionate teachers, and well-rounded curriculum, which prepare students for future success. She also values the school’s supportive atmosphere, where students feel respected, valued, and empowered to explore new challenges.
Ms. Lu’s Personal Life
Ms. Lu enjoys reading and creating balloon decorations for birthdays, weddings, and other celebrations. One of her favorite classroom traditions is teaching students to cook Spanish dishes and giving them the chance to practice language skills while experiencing cultural traditions firsthand. Lu also draws inspiration from her favorite childhood book, “El Patito Feo,” which taught her the importance of not judging others by appearance and recognizing that true beauty comes from within.
The advice Lu shares with her students reflects this global perspective:
“Learn to embrace and respect the different cultures, languages, and traditions of all the countries of the world.”
