Hudson Montessori School Welcomes Eric Chapman as Our New Head of School

Hudson Montessori School is pleased to welcome Eric Chapman as our new Head of School, ushering in an exciting new chapter in our school's history.

Mr. Eric brings more than two decades of experience in independent school leadership, having served as a Head of School, Director of Admissions, Director of Diversity, and Middle School Director.

"I'm honored to join this extraordinary community and look forward to learning

alongside our students, faculty, and families,” said Mr. Eric. “I am inspired by Hudson Montessori’s commitment to Montessori education. I have been drawn to Hudson Montessori School for its integrated STEAM approach, its nationally STEM-certified campus, as well as its exceptional faculty, and the school’s commitment to educating the whole child.”

He comes to us from a leadership role at The Inly School, a nationally recognized Montessori school in Massachusetts, giving him a deep appreciation for the Montessori philosophy and its transformative impact on children. He values a student-centered philosophy.

Throughout his career, he has championed inquiry-based learning, academic excellence, student engagement, and inclusive school communities. We were additionally impressed by his curriculum development experience.

An accomplished educational leader, Mr. Eric holds a bachelor's degree from Tufts University and two master's degrees from Pace University: the first in the Science of Teaching and the second in Educational Leadership and Administration.  He is currently completing his doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. 

During our national search, Mr. Eric stood out for his extensive leadership experience and his warmth, curiosity, collaborative spirit, and genuine enthusiasm for Hudson Montessori. His vision aligns beautifully with our mission of nurturing curious, compassionate, confident learners who are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

As we celebrate the remarkable leadership of Ms. Gina Reeves and her well-deserved retirement, we were committed to finding a leader who would honor the strong foundation she helped build while guiding Hudson Montessori into its next era of growth and innovation. We are confident that Mr. Eric is that leader.

Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children from 18 months through 8th grade. The teachers use an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach grounded in Montessori philosophy and methodology to foster students' love of learning. The nationally certified STEM campus is the only one of its kind in New Jersey, featuring STEM-certified teachers who meet the highest standards set by the National Institute for STEM Education. The school welcomes parents to a school tour to learn more about its programs.
