Hudson Montessori Students Present Work at IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference

The research projects of seven students and their teacher, Dr. Grace Sanvictores, were sponsored by Montclair University and presented at the 16th IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference, held at Princeton University recently.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world’s largest technical professional organization for engineers and scientists dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity through computer sciences, engineering, and related disciplines.
Dr. Sanvictores presented her research for the National Science Foundation on “From Space Weather to Sustainable Food Systems: A Transdisciplinary STEAM Approach to Systems Thinking Through Project-Based Learning,” along with four of her students, who were also presenting their work as poster presentations at the conference.
The seven students who authored and had their posters accepted for display at the conference. They were:

Matthew G. – "Using a Cost-Effective AI-Powered Device to Detect Algae Blooms"
Rea R./Sana K. – “Space Weather Effects on Agriculture”
Maddox B./Aaron T. – “Using Logistic Regression Models To Predict Coronal Mass Ejection Events”
The 16th IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference is known for featuring cutting-edge research and experiences with integrated approaches to the study of science, math, and technology, through activities grounded in engineering and other design disciplines.
Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children from ages 2 through 8th grade. The teachers use an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach grounded in Montessori philosophy and methodology to foster students' love of learning. Its STEM-certified campus is the only one of its kind in New Jersey, featuring STEM-certified teachers who meet the highest standards set by the National Institute for STEM Education. The school welcomes parents to an open house to learn more about its programs.
