We had a wonderful summer with our campers of all ages, engaging their curiosity by showing how we explore the world around us! Whether soaring through the skies, navigating the seas, and even venturing into outer space, Session 3 had something for every adventurer. From piloting imaginary planes and engineering astronaut training courses to crafting boats, rockets, and cars, every activity was fueled by creativity, teamwork, and discovery.
Toddler Camp
Our Toddler campers spent Session 3 exploring how people and animals travel by land, air, and sea through hands-on activities and engaging adventures both inside and outside of the classroom. They explored the theme “Transportation Around Us” by building traffic lights, sponge-painted trains, popsicle-stick airplanes, and crafting boats, cars, and rockets. We blended smoothies, froze fruit popsicles, and made "fruity rocket" snacks, to engage all of the senses.
Primary Camp
Summer Camp Session 3 (for preschoolers to Kindergarteners) ended on a high note! Students spent two weeks learning all about the science of flight. From the Montgolfier brothers to Count von Zeppelin, they discovered all about the sky-high adventures of these pioneers of aviation. Our classrooms transformed into a bustling airport, complete with passports, boarding passes, and a warm welcome from our attentive "flight crew," Ms. Liz and Ms. Emily, while Captain Ms. Susan skillfully navigated our plane through a sky full of excitement and wonder. Imaginations soared from takeoff to landing, with every child feeling they were part of a magical travel experience.
Elementary Camp
Our two Elementary teams of Astronauts and Engineers spent the last session training through obstacle courses, space experiments, and teamwork challenges in an action-packed journey to the stars. They kicked off the final week of "Astronaut Academy" by diving deep into the Engineering Design Process to create an astronaut training course. From Lego prototypes to constellation marshmallow creations, STEAM obstacle courses, and technology challenges, our campers designed, tested, and improved their ideas just like real engineers. Enrichment classes brought even more excitement with music lessons comparing "Space Oddity" and "Rocket Man," vantage point art of futuristic cityscapes, cooling swims, basketball skills, chess strategies, and a scenic ferry trip to NYC's Vessel and High Line to close out camp.
Our campers ended this camp session with purposeful projects and crafts, but perhaps more importantly, they carried home new friendships, skills, and memories that will last far beyond these fun-filled weeks. Every child embraced the spirit of curiosity, creativity, and fun that makes our camp so special. We have one final mission for our campers—keep exploring, imagining, and reaching for the stars!
