Tomorrow, Hudson Montessori School will open its doors to the community for one of its most exciting traditions of the year—the 17th Annual Social Studies Fair and Street Carnival. Our RAIN OR SHINE event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Families, friends, neighbors, and visitors from across Jersey City are invited to experience this year’s theme, Tapestry of Cultures, with an unforgettable day of exploration, creativity, and fun!
Rain plan: Our event is designed for rain or shine—most of our activities will continue indoors, including face painting, balloon artists, community-making tables, museum galleries, and indoor dining areas. Our HMV Info Table is the place to start. It will be located at the corner of 30 Regent and Liberty View Drive. In case of rain, it will be relocated to the 50 Regent St building (multipurpose room).
Museum Galleries: For months, students and teachers have been preparing immersive, museum-style galleries that transform classrooms into vibrant cultural experiences through hands-on, interactive exhibits. All our classrooms are open to the public and will be exploding with dazzling cultural displays that turn our school into a museum dedicated to all the wonderful cultures of the world. Here’s the gallery list:
Indigenous Peoples
Storytelling Across Cultures
Mountain Culture
Desert Culture
Port & Waterways
Brazil ~ Colombia
Kenya ~ South Africa
Mexico ~ Canada
India ~ China
Spain ~ Sweden
Polynesian Islands
Caribbean Islands
STREET CARNIVAL: The street carnival outside features a bouncy house, a 25-foot inflatable obstacle course, food trucks, balloon artists, face painting, musical entertainment, community tables, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.
TREASURE HUNT GAME: Children will enjoy the Treasure Hunt game, guided by a clearly marked treasure map, as they hunt for jewels! Completing the hunt while exploring the classroom galleries earns free giveaways. Inside the 50 Regent Building, visitors will also find an art and STEAM showcase highlighting even more student creativity and innovation.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITY TABLES: The community-sponsored activity tables include:
Bricks 4 Kidz Jersey City
Luna de Papel
Mindful Play Yoga
Tiger Paw Academy
Snapology of Jersey City
Make-a-Bracelet Table
FOOD TRUCKS: Food trucks will be at the ready to fuel all the fun:
