Our campus was filled with families, music, and festive spirit as our school community gathered for the annual Holiday Cheer celebration. Students delighted the audience with beloved holiday songs. After the concerts, elementary and middle school students continued spreading cheer by caroling down Regent Street to visit younger classrooms, followed by a much-anticipated visit from Santa.
The celebration continued with Lower Elementary Presents, where students proudly showcased their learning, creativity, and confidence on stage through the Reader’s Theater program. Classes transported families to ancient Greece with A Day on Mount Olympus, explored Deserts of the World through expressive performances highlighting desert life and culture, and captivated audiences with The Time-Traveling Tidemachine, a journey through the history of the Hudson River. Each performance reflected students’ hard work, teamwork, and growing stage presence.
Reader's Theater is a dynamic and engaging program that strengthens a child’s appreciation for reading, confidence, and collaboration in our students each year. Each presentation offers an exciting introduction to public speaking in a supportive environment, surrounded by classmates and families. The benefits:
Fluency and expression: By bringing scripts to life, students enhance their reading fluency, develop expressive reading skills, and improve comprehension.
Listening and speaking skills: It strengthens communication skills as children practice reading aloud with emotion and clarity.
Teamwork and creativity: Students work together to tell stories, share ideas, and take on roles, encouraging teamwork and imaginative thinking.
Confidence building: This supportive environment allows students to shine on stage, boosting their self-confidence and inspiring a love for performing.
The day was filled with the spirit of community and giving that defines our holiday season. Thank you to the amazing staff, students, and families that make the holidays at Hudson Montessori School so special.
