Overview

Innovative Community Outreach Project
At Hudson Montessori School, every graduating 8th grade class leaves a lasting legacy through a two-year student-led community initiative designed to make a meaningful impact on Jersey City. Beginning in 7th grade, students meet with local government officials and community leaders to better understand the city’s needs. They brainstorm ideas, research possibilities, and develop a thoughtful proposal. In their 8th grade year, students bring their vision to life—taking an active role in planning, organizing, and implementing their project.
This hands-on experience deepens students’ civic awareness and leadership skills while also giving students the ability to feel the power in being a changemaker for the community.
Current Project
The graduates of the 8th-grade class of 2026 created free tours of Jersey City, showcasing the city’s rich history, cultural diversity, and vibrant neighborhoods. This initiative aims to encourage social engagement, celebrate local culture, and support neighborhood businesses.
