Hudson Montessori Summer Camp Launches Into Session 2

Session 2 is off to an exciting start at Hudson Montessori School’s summer camp! Across every age group, campers are making new friends, exploring new themes, and diving headfirst into STEM projects and daily outdoor fun.

Toddler Camp:

Last week, our toddler campers settled into new routines, made new friends, and began exploring an exciting new theme.

• Campers kicked off the safari animals theme by learning about lions, elephants, giraffes, and other safari wildlife through stories, songs, and art projects.

• All enjoyed outdoor water play and created monkey-face snacks during food preparation.

• In Spanish class, they explored rhythms and learned safari animal names in Spanish. They also began making safari animals for their colorful safari dioramas.

  
  

Primary Camp:

The Primary children are learning about famous landmarks from around the world and what makes structures strong.

• Primary campers kicked off Session 2 by exploring the new theme: Buildings, Bridges, and Tunnels.

• Through stories like “The Three Little Pigs” and “Iggy Peck, Architect,” children learned about building materials, engineering, and creative problem-solving.

• Students also enjoyed a hands-on food preparation activity, creating a tasty snack with graham crackers, sunflower butter, and pretzel sticks.

Elementary Maker Camp:

Elementary Camp jumped into a new season of creativity and STEM challenges all about games from around the world.

• Campers launched the Team Spirit theme by creating STEAM journals, working together to build a FIFA City, tackling LEGO engineering, and dinosaur-building challenges.

• Students enjoyed swimming, chess, basketball, Spanish, music, art, technology, and library time, all connected to the exciting new theme.

• The week wrapped up with fun games, including Kahoot!, board games, maker projects, and a pizza party.

Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children from 18 months through 8th grade.
