Thank you to our students, families, and Jersey City community for coming together to make City of Water Day such a fantastic success! Last weekend, volunteers and local leaders gathered at Liberty State Park to honor and celebrate our shared waterways and commitment to environmental stewardship.Â
The event featured a beach cleanup at the Richard J. Sullivan Natural Area in Liberty State Park. Attendees learned about the effects of aging water infrastructure and then rolled up their sleeves, gloved up, and picked up plastics and garbage—big and small—to keep them out of our waterways.
The day’s activities were supported by a generous grant from the Hudson River Foundation and amplified by the efforts of leaders like Councilman Solomon and environmental advocate Dawn Giambalvo. Their support, along with the participation of Hudson Montessori School families, made this event a true testament to the power of collective action.
Hudson Montessori School was one of the local event coordinators, hosting the event in partnership with the Waterfront Alliance, NYNJ Harbor Estuary Program, New Jersey Future, and Sewage-Free NJ. When we come together with purpose, we strengthen our communities and create lasting change. Thank you to all the individuals and organizations who made this day such a success.
Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children aged 2 to 8th grade. The school uses an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach to education, grounded in the Montessori philosophy and methodology, to foster a love of learning in its students. Its STEM-certified campus is the only one of its kind in New Jersey, featuring STEM-certified teachers who meet the highest standards set by the National Institute for STEM Education. The school welcomes parents to attend a school tour to learn more about the school.
