Middle School Students End the School Year with Adventure and Celebration

The final weeks of the school year were packed with memorable experiences for our Middle School students. Each has opportunities to learn, explore, reflect, and celebrate together, both inside and outside the classroom.

Trout Release Project

After months of raising trout in the classroom, our 7th graders proudly released the young fish into their natural habitat. Throughout the project, students gained a deeper understanding of ecosystems, water quality, conservation, and the importance of protecting our environment.

One of the most meaningful parts of the experience came before release day, when students wrote letters to their trout. In their reflections, they shared what they had learned, the care they had provided, and the connection they had developed throughout the project. Releasing the trout was both a celebration of their hard work and a reminder of the important role humans play in caring for the natural world.

Horseshoe Crab Excursion

Our 8th graders enjoyed a fascinating trip to the Liberty State Park’s Caven Point and the Nature Interpretive Center, where they explored the estuary biome and learned about the unique life cycle and ecological importance of horseshoe crabs. The day included hands-on learning, environmental observation, and a walk back to school through Liberty State Park.

Science Presentations at NJIT

On June 4, our 7th- and 8th-grade students showcased their scientific knowledge at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Presenting their research and projects to an audience beyond the classroom allows students to develop confidence, communication skills, and a deeper appreciation for the scientific process. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students to share their hard work and demonstrate the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they have developed throughout the year.

Senior Day Out: 8th Graders Take Manhattan

To celebrate the culmination of their Middle School journey, our 8th graders enjoyed a special Senior Day Out in Manhattan on June 8. The trip provided students with an opportunity to spend time together, explore the city, and create lasting memories before moving on to the next chapter of their educational journeys. The day was a fitting celebration of all they have accomplished during their years at Hudson Montessori School.

Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children from ages 2 through 8th grade. The teachers use an interdisciplinary, theme-based learning approach grounded in Montessori philosophy and methodology to foster students' love of learning. Its STEM-certified campus is the only one of its kind in New Jersey, featuring STEM-certified teachers who meet the highest standards set by the National Institute for STEM Education. The school welcomes parents to a school tour to learn more about its programs.
