One Door Opens, Another Opens: Summer Camp Session 1 Leads Into Session 2

We had an incredible few weeks in Session 1 of Summer Camp at all three levels—Toddlers, Primary, and Elementary! Across every age group, our campers explored exciting themes through hands-on STEM activities, fun in the sun, and Montessori learning.

Toddler Camp

Our Toddler campers wrapped up Session 1 with a week full of ocean-themed projects and enjoyed a playful food-preparation activity. We are so proud of all they accomplished and can't wait to welcome them back for an exciting Safari-themed Session 2!

• Ocean Dioramas: Campers completed ocean keepsakes with real sand, seashells, and all of the sea creatures they created throughout the session.

• Food Preparation: Children made and enjoyed adorable turtle snacks using crackers, grapes, and raisins.

• Sunny Play: Students enjoyed daily sprinkler and water play and time outdoors.

  
  

Primary Camp

Primary campers explored the amazing creatures that help gardens grow and thrive. Children discovered the important roles insects and plants play in our world while celebrating all they learned during our gardening theme.

• Garden Explorers: Campers observed real insect specimens with magnifying glasses and learned how ladybugs, worms, bees, and butterflies help keep gardens healthy.

• Arts and Crafts: Children made bubble wrap pineapple prints and colorful ladybug garden collages inspired by nature.

• Growing Together: Throughout the session, campers discovered why plants are so important for providing food, creating habitats, and maintaining a healthy environment.

  
  

Elementary Camp

Elementary Makers Camp was packed with adventure! Campers showcased their confidence during Maker Monday and Tinker Tuesday presentations, tackled STEAM and engineering challenges, explored the visible light spectrum through a scavenger hunt, and continued working together on their community art project.

• Maker Monday & Tinker Tuesday: Children presented original inventions, board games, and creative projects to their fellow campers.

• STEAM Exploration: Students enjoyed a color spectrum scavenger hunt and a "Risky Bridge" engineering challenge that required problem-solving and teamwork.

• Field Trip Friday: The week ended with a ferry ride to Rockefeller Park in New York City for playground fun, a scenic boat ride, and a memorable day together.

Hudson Montessori School, located in downtown Jersey City, serves children from 18 months through 8th grade.
