From ocean adventures and gardening to STEAM challenges and swimming, our summer campers from all age levels had many highlights from Week 2 of Session 1.
Toddler Camp: Discovering My World
Our youngest campers enjoyed another week of ocean-themed fun, creative art projects, sensory play, and Independence Day celebrations. Some highlights:
Ocean Exploration and Art: Campers continued creating ocean dioramas by painting underwater backgrounds and crafting sea creatures with handprint crabs, jellyfish, and octopuses from recycled materials.
Water Play: Children stayed cool with outdoor water activities, splashing, pouring, and pretending to be different sea animals.
Independence Day: Campers learned about the holiday's meaning while celebrating with red, white, and blue fruit parfaits and festive handprint fireworks artwork.
Primary Camp: Grow It, Build It, Catch It
Our Primary gardeners (preschoolers and kindergarteners) continued exploring the "Grow It" theme through hands-on discovery of fruits, vegetables, and seeds.
Fruits, Vegetables, and Seeds: Campers observed and tasted a variety of plants, learning how living things grow while engaging all their senses.
Math and Science: Students estimated and counted the beans inside bean pods, recorded their predictions on a graph, and strengthened early math skills and data collection.
Gardening: Campers transplanted their sprouted beans into decorated pots, learning how plants grow as they prepared to watch their seedlings continue to flourish.
Elementary Maker's Camp: Games People Play
Campers combined creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in a variety of experiences infused with games, design, and technology. From building marble mazes and coding original games to exploring art, music, languages, sports, and chess, students developed new skills while having plenty of fun throughout the week.
Maker’s Unite: Students designed and collaborated on marble mazes from recycled materials, created clay game pieces, and learned Scratch coding concepts while programming their own interactive games. Students also continued painting a recycled mural and engineering Hot Wheels tracks inspired by Formula 1 racing, including one track that stretched more than 25 feet.
Specials: Campers learned chess strategies from National Master Mr. Jim and expanded their Spanish vocabulary by learning the names of chess pieces and the chessboard.
Fun in the Sun: Students played musical bingo featuring instruments from around the world, enjoyed freeze dance, cooled off in the rooftop pool, and stayed active with basketball, soccer, and other outdoor games.
